Sue Erickson Nielsen has a deep love for music, beginning with the bluegrass and folk music of the 60’s. At Cherry Creek High School in Denver, Colorado, her teenage years were offered safety and acceptance in the choirs and musicals offered there. Musical training continued with private classical vocal study under Ray Arbizu at BYU and a Bachelor of Music degree. She taught choral music at Kennedy Jr. High School and Riverview Jr. High School in Murray, Utah. Returning to BYU for a Master’s Degree in Organizational Behavior, she stayed involved in music through Mormon Youth Choir, Weekend Dance Band, Community Theatre, teaching in her children’s elementary school, private voice teaching, and with the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square. Sue, along with her talented husband, Ernest Nielsen—and their children—have made music a huge part of their family. They love to use music to bring their friends and community together.
